Yechiel ben Joseph, chamado em francês de Sire Vives e em latim de Vivus Meldensis, foi um grande talmudista e tosafista do norte da França.
- "Sem o Talmude não estaríamos aptos a entender as passagens da Bíblia... Deus entregou essa autoridade aos sábios e a tradição é tão necessária quanto as escrituras... Quem não estuda o Talmude não pode entender as Escrituras".
