Philip Morrison
Philip Morrison (Somerville, Nova Jérsei, 7 de novembro de 1915 — Cambridge, Massachusetts, 22 de abril de 2005) foi um físico estadunidense.

- Há uma estreiteza de ação, embora não intencional, que caracteriza os departamentos universitários, as publicações científicas e os cientistas em geral: se é muito popular, é de certa forma vulgar e errado. Você realmente não pode falar com aquelas pessoas do outro lado da rua. Moro ao lado dos químicos do MIT, mas nunca os vejo. Eu mal sei quem eles são, mas entre a física e a química é difícil saber quem deveria estudar qual molécula. Eu mesmo sou culpado. Formamos comunidades não com base nos problemas da ciência, mas em outras coisas. Isso faz parte da divisão geral entre o membro inteligente do público e o cientista que fala em foco estreito. Mas os grandes problemas teóricos que eu acredito que o mundo espera serão de alguma forma resolvidos pela ciência, problemas próximos a questões filosóficas profundas são os mesmos problemas que encontram a menor especialização, o menor grau de organização, o menor apoio institucional nas instituições científicas da América ou mesmo do mundo.
