"Eu lhe disse que manteiga não ia fazer bem para o maquinismo!" acrescentou, olhando furioso para a Lebre de Março.<br/> "Era manteiga da ''melhor'' qualidade", respondeu humildemente a Lebre de Março.<br/> "Sim, mas deve ter entrado um pouco de farelo", o Chapeleiro rosnou. "Você não devia ter usado a faca de pão."<br/> A Lebre de Março pegou o relógio e contemplou-o melancolicamente. Depois mergulhou-o na sua xícara de chá e fitou-o de novo. Mas não conseguiu encontrar nada melhor para dizer que seu primeiro comentário: "Era manteiga da ''melhor'' qualidade."
